Spring 2026

Sagun Chanillo

Course Description:

The course will present a proof of Picard's theorem on the behavior of holomorphic functions near essential singularities. A large part of the course will be devoted to the study of Riemann surfaces and the proof of the Riemann-Roch theorem. Our treatment is modelled after the book by C. L. Siegel but with a more modern approach. Additional topics that will be covered will be the Poisson-Jensen formula and the three lines theorem from which we will derive the Riesz-Thorin theorem of interpolation of operators.

Textbook:

There is no book for the course. A set of notes by Prof. X. Huang which is being converted into a book will be used. Book chapters will be posted on Canvas for the use of the students.

Prerequisites:

503 and 501.
